Project Statement
The biodiversity rich forests of Tungareshwar have an endangered buffer zone, with human industry such as quarrying, construction of roads and religious structures, deforestation and hunting have continually violated the bulwark of the ecologically sensitive zone.
Project Intervention
Vanashakti has filed a PIL to compel the central govt. to declare the sanctuary an Ecologically Sensitive Zone, in compliance with directions of the Honourable Supreme Court.
Project Outcome
The case is listed for a hearing in March 2019.
