Project Statement
Land in the Kopri Mulund mangrove belt reclassified
from CRZ-I to CRZ-III so as to construct a SEZ in a prime mangrove belt. Municipal solid
waste also dumped on the land for reclamation.
Project Intervention
1. Vanashakti petitions to all relevant government depts.
2. Vanashakti moves to court.
Project Outcome
1. The Bombay HC gives stay order for reclamation of the area.
2. Leading national dailies and news channels carried the news.
